WHITTIER, Calif. - Whittier College Executive Director of Athletics Robert Coleman announced today the hiring of Laura Elliot as the Poets' new equipment manager and assistant women’s basketball coach.
"We are really excited to have Laura Elliot join the Whittier family," said Coleman.
“I believe she will be an extraordinary asset to the staff as our new Equipment Manager and Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach and will have a monumental impact on our program."
Elliot is from Livermore, Calif. and joins the Whittier College Staff after she received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Lincoln Memorial (TN) and her Master's in Business Administration from Carson-Newman College (TN).
While at Ohlone College, Elliot was a member of the women's basketball team where she helped lead the team to the Sweet 16 North, helping her earn 1st Team All-Coast, All-State Honorable Mention, and Offensive Player of the Year honors. She then transferred to Lincoln Memorial University where she was a two-year member of the basketball program.
Prior to becoming a graduate assistant at Carson-Newman College for the past two years, Elliot coached one year at Ohlone where she helped lead the team to a perfect conference record and a conference championship.
Most recently, Elliot has coached an AAU basketball program in the bay area, two years as the head coach of a Tri-Valley Elite 7th/8th grade team seeing success in tournaments up and down the west coast.
"Laura has an extensive background coaching and playing women's basketball," added Coleman. "She is determined to hit the ground running and that focus will allow us to become a stronger team within our conference."
