Scurlock Named SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week

Poets quarterback, Josh Scurlock '08, was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Male Athlete of the Week for his performance against the University of Puget Sound on September 22.

Scurlock went 18-for-36 passing with 172 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in the game.  He also carried the ball 20 times for 106 yards and a touchdown.  He averaged 5.3 yards per carry.  This season, he is 39-for-76 passing (51%), with five touchdowns and just one interception.  He averages 174.5 yards passing per game.  On the ground, he is the Poets leading rusher with 181 yards on 42 carries and three touchdowns. 

The Poets are 1-1 this season and begin conference play on September 29.  They take on the Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Sagehens at Memorial Stadium at 7pm.
