Poets have good showing in All-Conference Selections

The Poets Football season has come to a close but not without spectacular performances from a variety of players who helped anchor the Poets Squad for the 2008 Season and have  been selected for All-Conference Honors, and Honorable Mention. 

Offense-

Sophomore Offensive Guard Cody McDermott was named to the 1st Team All SCIAC Football Team.  Senior Running Back Anthony Pomponio was named to the 2nd Team All SCIAC Football Team.  Sophomore Offensive Center Richard Duran was named Honorable Mention All SCIAC, and Senior Wide-Receiver Shawn Briggs was named Honorable Mention All SCIAC.  McDermott and Duran anchored the offensive line all season long and helped pave the way for Pomponio's All Conference season.  Pomponio and Briggs had solid senior seasons leading the Poet offense in rushing and receiving.  Pomponio's rushing total was the most for a Poet in over a decade.  

Defense-

Senior Rush End Steffen Santos was named to the 2nd Team All SCIAC Football Team.  Junior Linebacker Brandon Boehm was also named to the 2nd Team All SCIAC Football Team.  Sophmore Defensive End Ryan Kirkpatrick was named Honorable Mention All SCIAC, and Senior Defensive End Donovan Moloney was named Honorable Mention All SCIAC.  Santos led the Poets in sacks and QB pressures, while Boehm was the tackle leader for the 2008 season.
