Whittier College DB Tyquion Ballard has been named to the D3Football.com Team of the Week for the Week of Nov. 5. The Sophomore cornerback single handedly thwarted a pair of Tiger scoring drives with an interception and a forced fumble in the red zone in the Whittier’ 60-31 win over the Occidental College Tigers to reclaim the coveted shoes.

It has been four years since the Poets have hoisted the coveted shoes fought over year after year by Whittier and Occidental but Saturday evening the Purple & Gold prevailed in the 67th “Battle of the Shoes” bringing the shoes home in a 61-30 rout of Occidental College at Jack Kemp Stadium.
