WHITTIER, Calif. – After a big 28-13 win over Occidental College, the Whittier College Football team is 0-2 and look to get back on track with a big Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match-up with Claremont-M-S.

WC Coming into the Game

The Poets are 1-5, 1-3 SCIAC with their lone win coming against Occidental College in "The Shoes" rivalry game.  They are currently 1-3 in the month of October and are coming off a 42-17 loss to Pomona-Pitzer.  The Poets are without starting quarterback Miguel Avina who is out for the season with an injury forcing junior Matthew Valencia into the starting role.

CMS Coming into the Game

The Stags are putting together one of their best seasons in program history posting a 5-2, 4-0 SCIAC record.  They are currently 3-0 in the month of October with wins over Cal Lutheran (17-10), Redlands (20-10), and Occidental (27-7).  Their other SCIAC win is against La Verne (37-24), which came back on September 29.  They are currently riding a four game winning streak and have won five of their last six.

Whittier – Averaging 25.2 points per game and 338.2 yards of offense.  They are putting up 154.5 yards on the ground and 183.7 yards through the air.  Against opponents they are giving up 44 points a game and 473 total yards of offense with 240.2 on the ground and 232.8 through the air.

Claremont-M-S - Averaging 22.4 points per game and 314.4 yards of offense.  On the ground they average 178.9 yards a game and through the air they put up 135.6 yards.  Against opponents this season they are giving up 15.6 points per game and a mere 279.3 yards of offense (118.6 Rushing / 160.7 Passing).
