The 2009 season will be the first year for graduate assistant Shawn Briggs as a member of the Whittier College football staff. He is responsible for the wide receivers.

Briggs graduated from Whittier 2008 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and is currently working towards his Master's in Education.

In his senior season he led the Poets with 35 catches for 488 yards and five touchdowns and was named an honorable mention All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member. He was also one of 11 Poets named to the SCIAC All-Academic team.

The Mariposa, Calif., led Whittier in receiving his junior season with 59 catches for 740 yards and 10 touchdowns. He garnered a spot on the All-SCIAC second-team.
