2008 Golf Recap

Three coaches in three seasons will create inconsistency in any program. But with the addition of first-year head coach Richard Kim, the Whittier College golf program is on the rise.

Paul Gray led the team this year in the #1 position. He earned team Most Valuable Player honors for his performance this season. Charlie Phillips showed tremendous promise as the team's Rookie of the Year. In one of the top Division III golf conferences in the country, the Poets earned four points and finished seventh in the SCIAC standings.

Coach Kim is a Whittier graduate and is determined to get the golf program back on track. He was a Whittier College Athlete of the Year as a football and track star in the mid-90s. There are five freshmen and one sophomore on the current roster, and Kim has three more golfers already committed to join the squad next year. Only one senior, Bill Ritter, will be lost to graduation in 2008.
