Poets finish SCIAC #2 in seventh place

MIRA LOMA, Calif. - The Whittier College golf team finished in seventh place at the second Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match on Monday afternoon at Goose Creek Golf Club. The Poets shot a combined 26 over par on the afternoon.
Whittier was led by Paul Gray who shot a four-over par 75 on the par 71 course. Donny Garrison finished the round one-shot behind Gray with a 76.
The final two scores for the Poets were very competitive as the next three scores were separated by two shots. Nikhil Bhardwaj finished with a 79 while Andrew Moreno-Hunt shot an 80. Ryan Kitabayashi shot an 81 for the purple and gold.
The University of La Verne won the event with a 282. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Cal Lutheran, Redlands and Pomona-Pitzer finished in second, third, fourth and fifth place, respectively.
The Poets return to action next Monday, March 16, as they take part in the third SCIAC match at Empire Lakes Golf Club.
