Men's Basketball Takes 3rd Place at Redlands Tourney, Farlough '08 Earns All-Tournament Honors

Raphael Farlough '08 scored 14 points and was named to the All-Tournament team as Whittier College beat California State-East Bay 88-71in the third place game of the 59th Annual Lee Fulmer Men's Basketball Tournament hosted by the University of Redlands on December 2.

The Poets (4-2) shot over 55 percent from the field and held a 43-30 edge in rebounds over Cal St.-East Bay (1-5).  A.J. Manalo '10 scored 13 points in 19 minutes off the bench.  Marcus Gibson '09 added 12 points and Anthony Taylor '07 was one rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine boards.

The Poets are in action again on December 7 when West Coast Baptist comes to town.  The game is also "Dress Like Santa Night" as part of a promotion for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.  Dressing in your best holiday ensemble will get you entered into a drawing to see who will have the opportunity to win $10,000 in a half court shot contest.  Tip-off for the game is 7pm.
