Men's Basketball Falls to Puget Sound, Covington '08 Scores 19 in Loss


Vernon Covington '08 scored a team-high 19 points, but Whittier College lost 106-88 to nationally ranked no. 15 University of Puget Sound at Graham Athletics Center on December 18.

Raphael Farlough '08 scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Poets.  Donovan White '10 was the only other Poet in double figures with 11 points.  He also handed out five assists. 

The Loggers (8-1) held a 55-38 lead at the half.  They shot 45 percent from the field while Whittier (6-3) shot 41 percent.  The difference in the game was from behind the three-point line, where the Loggers  made 14 threes to the Poets' four.  Puget Sound's Ryan Delong made 7-of-11 from behind the arc, and finished with 32 points.
