Men's Basketball Loses Battle with Redlands, McLean '09 Finishes with Huge Double-Double

Jeff McLean '09 had career-highs with 37 points
and 17 rebounds, but Whittier College lost 132-122 to the
University of Redlands in Southern California Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference play at Graham Athletics Center on January
27. The Poets are now 8-9 overall and 2-4 in
conference action.
McLean shot 16-for-24 from the field in 28 minutes of action
off the bench. He also led the Poets defensively with four
blocks and drew five charges. Vernon Covington
'08 also had a double-double with 12 points and ten
rebounds. Tim Fanning '07 hit five
three's and finished with 24 points. Marcus Gibson
'09 added 19 points and Jonathan Saucedo
'10 scored 12 points and had a game-high eight assists.
Redlands (12-4, 5-1 SCIAC) shot 50 percent from the field in the first half on their way to a ten-point lead at the break. The lead changed hands six times in the game with the Poets leading for the last time at the 5:18 mark.
