2006-07 Poets Men's Basketball Recap

Men's Basketball finished the 2006-07 season with a 9-16 overall
record. Their 3-11 record in conference play put the
Poets in seventh place in the SCIAC. The Poets won six of
their first eight games; all in non-conference play. Losses
to nationally ranked #12 University of Puget Sound, Anderson
University and Chapman University had the Poets in the midst of
their first losing streak of the season heading into conference
play. The best conference win of the season came against
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on January 24 in the Graham Athletics
Center. In the final game of the season, on a night where
over 1,500 fans were present on "PAC the GAC" night, the Poets took
nationally ranked #19 and SCIAC rival Occidental College into
double overtime, before a last second shot by the Tigers won the
game.
Sophomore forward Jeff McLean and senior guard Tim Fanning were
named to the All-SCIAC second team for their performances this
season. McLean led the team with 14.5 points and 6.9 rebounds
per conference game. He also led the team with 29 blocks and
a .580 field goal percentage in all games. Fanning was second
on the team in conference scoring, averaging 13.9 points per
game. He led the team with 31 steals, a .850 free throw
percentage and a .437 three-point field goal percentage throughout
the season.
