Archuletta named first-team all-conference, McLean second-team

LOS ANGELES - The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its all-conference team earlier today and the Poets were represented with two players named to the team. Senior Michael Archuletta was named a first-team member while fellow senior Jeff McLean garnered a spot on the second team.

Last season Archuletta and McLean were named to the first and second teams each, respectively.

Archuletta led the Poets with a 12.5 points per game average as he played in, and started, all 26 games for the purple and gold this season. Four times this season he went over 20 points with his season-high coming on December 17 against Gwynedd-Mercy.

The Manhattan Beach, Calif., native poured in 24 points in WC's 95-83 win. Two games later he duplicated his 24-point night against Swarthmore on January 4.

The 6-5 forward also led the team in rebounding with a 5.6 rebound per game average and dished out 1.3 assists per game. He registered his lone double-double on January 21 against Occidental as he went for 14 points and 11 rebounds.

McLean finished the season scoring 7.6 points per game and added 4.5 rebounds a game.  The Hingham, Mass., native scored in double figures eight times this year with his highest output coming on February 18 against Pomona-Pitzer when he recorded 15 points.

The 6-6 forward played in all 26 games as he made starts. He led the team in blocks with 36 (1.4 per game) and had a season-high four blocks against Cal Lutheran on January 31.

McLean shot 45 percent from the field while Archuletta had a 49 percent field goal percentage.
