    The Whittier College Men’s Basketball team put up 87 points Saturday night inside of the Graham Athletic Center as they rolled Westcliff University 87-62 in an exhibition contest.

    2012 graduate Brandon Thomas is leaving his mark on some of the game’s biggest stars. The Bay Area native who attended famed De La Salle High School played two seasons for the Poets, highlighted by a senior season in which he helped lead the team to an 18-8 record and a post-season SCIAC playoff berth. “Brandon’s best qualities were his defensive toughness and work-ethic, it’s no wonder he’s found a way to be successful at this next phase of life,” says Head Coach Mark Jensen.
  • Louis Kurihara ’18 Signs with Shinshu Brave Warriors

    Former Whittier College basketball player Louis Kurihara (Culver City, Calif.) has signed to play professionally with the Shinshu Brave Warriors in the Japanese city of Chikuma. Kurihara is headed to Japan after a four-year career with the Poets in which he started almost every game he played in, racked up nearly 1000 points and was selected to the All-SCIAC 2nd Team his senior year. Highlighting his career was a pair of game winning shots down the stretch to get the Poets into post-season contention. During his time at Whittier Kurihara was a vital part of two post-season playoff berths.
