WHITTIER, Calif. – Senior Doug Kennedy who earned 2nd Team All-SCIAC recognition last week for his 13th place finish in the SCIAC Championships qualified for the NCAA Div. III Golf Championships set to take place May 15-18 with 210 participants.

The senior from Fullerton, Calif., finished the season ranked in the top 15 in the conference with an average score of 75.8 at the six SCIAC events and earns a trip to the NCAA Championships for the first time in his collegiate career.

The NCAA Championships are set to take place May 15-18 at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-Inn-The-Hills, Florida.

A total of 210 participants will compete at the 2012 championships. Thirty-one conferences were awarded automatic qualification for the championships. Three teams were selected from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions, and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification.

The final seven berths were reserved for Pool C, which are institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion and any remaining Pool B teams. The top five individuals are selected from the remaining players who have not qualified with a team.

Four SCIAC schools will be taking part in the NCAA Championships including La Verne, Claremont-M-S, Cal Lutheran, and Redlands.
