2007 Poets Men's Lacrosse Recap
The 2007 Whittier College men's lacrosse team finished their
season with a 3-7 record. Their three wins in NCAA Division
III came against Elmira College, Colorado College and Goucher
College. They also picked up wins against the Chico State and
Chapman University club teams. Twice the Poets faced off
against Division II Notre Dame de Namur, and twice the Poets lost
by one goal in the final minutes of the game. Whittier fell
in two other one goal games; a triple overtime loss to Ursinus
College and another overtime heartbreaker against McDaniel
College.
The Poets were led offensively by sophomore attackman Anthony
Lackey. Lackey finished the season ranked fourth in the
nation in points per game with 5.3. He also ranked seventh in
assists per game and 16th in goals per game.
Senior captain, Dave Gerbarg also ranked among the best in Division
III in scoring. He finished the season ninth in points per
game (4.7) and tied for seventh with Lackey in assists per game
(2.3).
