Poets end spring break trip with 14-4 win over CNU

SEVERNA PARK, Md. - The Whittier College men's lacrosse team ended its spring break trip in impressive fashion with a 14-4 win over Christopher Newport University on Saturday, April 4.

The Poets (6-7) used a nine-goal run over three quarters to take control of the game and earn the victory.

Anthony Lackey and Christian Wright each tallied five points on four goals and one assist while goalie Ben Brown made seven saves in 45 minutes of action.

WC led 4-2 with 6:03 left in the second quarter after CNU (6-4) tallied a goal to trim the Poet lead to two goals. The purple and gold started its run at the 1:53 mark of the second quarter and scored its ninth goal of the run with 10:34 left in the fourth quarter.

Lackey registered all of his points in that run and Daniel McQuade added a pair of goals to compliment the three points (2g, 1a) by Wright during the run.

CNU controlled the face-offs as it won 12-20 but WC corralled 50 ground balls to the Captains' 38.
