Poets hold on for 10-9 win over Drew


SAN DIEGO - The Whittier College men's lacrosse team ended its two-game skid on Sunday afternoon as it held for a 10-9 win over Drew at Cathedral High School in San Diego, California. The Poets were led by Sam Russell who tallied four-points.

Whittier (3-2) held a 7-2 lead after three quarters but gave up seven goals in the fourth quarter. The Poets were able to net three goals in the fourth to hold on for the win.

Colt Adams scored two goals and added one assist while Anthony Lackey and Michael Neumayr each had two point afternoons.

Ben Brown earned his third win of the season in goal for the Poets as he stopped 15 of the 24 shots he faced.

The Poets return to action on Tuesday, March 10, as they host No. 8 Ithaca College at Memorial Stadium at 3:00 p.m.
