Men's Soccer Loses to SCIAC Rival, Poets Shut Out by CMS
Whittier College lost to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges by the score of 3-0 at Donald E. Graham Soccer Field on September 23. The Poets are now 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Claremont is now 3-3 overall and 2-1 in SCIAC play.
Cody Sowa '10 made four saves in goal for the Poets. Whittier was out shot in the game 13-2. After a scoreless, hard fought first half, the Stags got the scoring started less than five minutes into the second on a free kick that found its way into the back of the net. They added another in the 63rd minute and then their last just 1:48 seconds later. Play got physical in the latter stages of the game and Mark Elliot '10 was sent off with a red card in the 67th minute after an altercation with a CMS player. No goals were scored in the final 26 minutes, making the final 3-0.
