Men's Soccer Loses at Occidental, Poets Give Up Two Second Half Goals
Whittier College lost 2-0 in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference road game against Occidental College on October 7. The Poets are now 2-8 overall and 0-7 in SCIAC play while Occidental improved their record to 6-4, 3-4 in the conference.
Cody Sowa '10 made nine saves in goal as the Poets were out shot 17-8 in the game. After the two teams played a scoreless first half, the Tigers got on the scoreboard first with a goal in the 50th minute. The Poets were unable to mount an attack in the second half, taking only one shot. Occidental capped the scoring in the 71st minute to take the 2-0 victory.
