Men's Soccer Loses to Cal Lu, Poets Still Winless in SCIAC


Joe McFarlin '07 scored his second goal in as many games, but Whittier College lost 5-1to California Lutheran University in Southern California Intercollegiate Conference action on October 14.  The Poets (2-10, 0-9 SCIAC) have yet to win a game in the SCIAC, while Cal Lutheran (10-3, 8-1 SCIAC) remains in a tie for first place in the conference. 

McFarlin's goal came on an assist from Joe Gelaro '10 in the 62nd minute after the Poets were
already trailing, 4-0.  The Kingsmen started the scoring in the 4th minute and took a 4-0 lead into
halftime.  They added their final goal in the 71st minute on a header off a corner kick.  Cal Lutheran
held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks and a 29-6 edge in shots.  Dan Roe '07 came off the bench in the first half to make nine saves in 69 minutes for the Poets.
