Men's Soccer Loses Non-Conference Game, Poets' Resume SCIAC Schedule Oct. 25

Joe McFarlin '07 scored an early game-tying
goal, but Whittier College lost 4-1 to California State
University-San Marcos in a non-conference home game on October
23. The Poets are now 2-13 and CSU-San Marcos is
12-4-1.
Dan Roe '07 made eight saves in goal for the
Poets. The Cougars took 21 shots to the Poets' eight.
San Marcos started the scoring in the 17th minute. McFarlin's
tying goal came just two minutes later on a Ben Stockler
'07 corner kick. The Cougars added on in the 31st
minute and then had luck on their side in the 44th minute, when a
shot took a deflection off a Poets defender and found the back of
the net.
The second half was highly contested. Three yellow cards were issued in the half, and only one goal. It came from San Marcos in the 89th minute and it sealed the 4-1 victory for the Cougars.
