Men's Soccer Picks Up First Conference Win, Stockler '07 Scores Twice For Poets

Ben Stockler '07 scored both goals for the Poets as they beat the California Institute of Technology 2-0 for their first win in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference this season. 

Whittier College (3-13, 1-11 SCIAC) out shot Caltech (1-15, 1-11 SCIAC) 16-9 in the game and held a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.  Caltech's only win this season came against the Poets on September 30.

Cody Sowa '10 made two saves for his first clean sheet of the season.  Stockler started the scoring with just one minute remaining in the first half.  The game was very physical, with thirty fouls being called between the two teams and six yellow cards.  Stockler's second goal came shortly after the halftime break in the 58th minute.
