Men's Soccer Beat by Pomona-Pitzer, Poets Out Shot 23-3 by Sagehens


Whittier College lost 6-1 on the road against Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on October 28.  The Poets are now 3-15 overall and 1-12 in the conference while the Sagehens improve to 11-6 overall and 9-3 in the SCIAC.

Simon Ghebru '08 scored the lone goal for Whittier.  Cody Sowa '10 made eight saves in goal.  The Poets surrendered 23 shots and 11 corner kicks to the Sagehens.  Pomona started the scoring in the second minute.  They scored three more times in the first half to take a 4-0 lead at halftime.  They scored again in the 62nd minute.  The Poets got on the scoreboard with Ghebru's goal on an assist from Eddie Baker '10 less than a minute later.  That was all Whittier would get and Pomona added one more in the 87th minute for the 6-1 final.
