2007 Men's Soccer Preview

The Poets enter the 2007 season with the goal of qualifying for
the conference playoffs. New head coach Paul Walmsley is working
very hard to bring in a number of quality recruits from high school
players and junior college transfers.
Five seniors were lost from last season, including
all-conference striker Joe McFarlin. All returning players
and newcomers will be undertaking a twelve week conditioning
program through the summer in order to return to preseason training
in shape.
They will be fitness tested on the opening day of preseason.
Preseason training will consist of double days, classroom and video
tape analysis, as well as team building exercises.
The goal of the 2007 season is to solidify the players into a hard
working, organized team. The team motto is "Play Hard, Play Smart,
Play Together." The Poets will be working on becoming a very hard
to beat team, a team that works together to defend as a group and
to make life very difficult for the opposition. In terms of
attacking play, the team will look to counter attack and they will
also concentrate heavily on set plays.
