Men's Soccer Loses on the Road to Cal Lutheran

Whittier College men's soccer lost 3-0 at California Lutheran University on September 15.  The Poets are still winless this season; now 0-5 overall and 0-2 in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

The Poets fell behind early, after Cal Lutheran found the back of the net twice in the early going.  Their first came in the seventh minute from Scott Jones.  They added another less than a minute later when Brandon Higa snuck one past the Whittier goalkeeper.  The rest of the first half went without a goal.  The Poets had their best opportunities to score in the first stanza, taking three of their four shots in the game.  The Kingsmen were relentless in their first half attack, as they took 18 shots.

In the second half, Paul Stepler-Camp '10 kept the Poets in the game with five saves.  He finished with seven for the game.  Cal Lutheran broke through once again in the 70th minute, however, putting the finishing touches on a 3-0 victory.

The Poets are at home for their next game on September 19.  They take on defending SCIAC Champion, University of Redlands at 7pm.
