Men's Soccer Shut Out by Cal Lutheran


Whittier College men's soccer continued Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on October 10 and lost 3-0 to California Lutheran University at Donald E. Graham Soccer Field.  The Poets are now 1-10-1 overall and 1-6-1 in SCIAC play.  Cal Lutheran is tied for first place in the conference at 11-3 overall and 8-1 in the SCIAC.

The Kingsmen took the lead mid-way through the first half when Josh Moskowitz scored his first goal of the day in the 30th minute.  Cal Lutheran got one more before halftime when Jorge Martinez found the back of the net in the 44th minute. 

The lone goal in the second half came from Moskowitz in the 72nd minute, when his shot deflected off a Poet defender and beat the Whittier goalkeeper.  Cal Lutheran went on to win by the 3-0 score.  The Kingsmen out shot the Poets 16-5 in the game.  Whittier goalie, Paul Stepler-Camp '10 made four saves in the loss.

The Poets continue conference play on October 13, when they take on the SCIAC's other top team, the University of Redlands.  The game is scheduled for 11am in Redlands, Calif.
