Poets settle for overtime tie with Occidental


LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Poets men's soccer team continues to roll as they keep their unbeaten streak alive at 10 games as they played a tough double over-time SCIAC Conference match-up on the road with the Occidental Tigers.  The Poets continue to fight as they battle for one of the top two spots in the upcoming SCIAC postseason tournament. 

In the contest the Poets (9-4-3, 7-1-3 SCIAC) were outshot 28-20, while the Tigers (4-12-1, 3-10-1 SCIAC) were able to put 16 shots on goal compared to the Poets 9. 

Freshman Taylor Ayres played an outstanding game in goal for the Poets as he recorded nine saves while playing all 120 minutes.

The Poets were led by Tommy Barber and Adolfo Santos who took five and four shots each, respectively, with seven of those shots being on goal.

The Poets are contending for a second place finish in the SCIAC before the upcoming postseason tournament.

The Poets will face Pomona-Pitzer in their final regular season game Sunday, November 1, at 2:00 pm.
