Graduated from Whittier in 2010 and was a member of the soccer and track & field teams. He earned the Bob Chandler award and was a two-time Most Valuable Player and all-league.

Personal
Montalvo grew up with his parents Monique and Jorge in his hometown of La Mirada, Calif. and was born in La Mirada, Calif. He is currently majoring in Pre-Physical Therapy and his nickname is "Quaresma".
