Whittier releases 2012 men’s soccer schedule

2012 Men's Soccer Schedule

WHITTIER, Calif. – Whittier College Executive Director of Athletics Robert Coleman and Men's Soccer Coach Shea Harwell, in conjunction with the WC Sports Information Department, is pleased to release the 2012 Whittier College men's soccer schedule.

The Poets have 20 competition dates in the 2012 season, with nine home matches in the friendly confines of the Graham Soccer Field.  The home schedule includes two three-game home stands, as well as three home matches against SCIAC opponents.  The Purple & Gold take to the road eleven times during the season, including one neutral site competition against Linfield College, held at UC Santa Cruz.

Whittier opens the 2012 regular season on the road, traveling to the Masters College on August 31 before moving up North to UC Santa Cruz on September 7th and 8th to take on the Banana Slugs and then the Wildcats of Linfield College.

They then return two days later but remain on the road to open up Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play against the Leopards of the University of La Verne on September 10 and then the Panthers of Chapman University on September 12. 

Chapman becomes a part of the SCIAC for the first time after being an Independent Program in Division III since 1994.    

The Poets return home midway through September, opening their home schedule on September 14th against Southwestern College (TX).  Whittier remains at home as they continue their home stand with two SCIAC opponents in Occidental College and Pomona-Pitzer with games slated for September 19th and September 22nd

Whittier then hits the road for a contest against the Beavers of Caltech on September 24th before returning home for a single game against the Kingsmen of Cal Lutheran University on September 26th

The Poets then hit the road once again for five of their next seven SCIAC contests before wrapping up the regular season with their second three-game home stand capped off with RAGE the CAGE on October 27th when the Purple & Gold take on the 2011 SCIAC Champion Bulldogs of the University of Redlands.   

The 2012 SCIAC Playoffs, which the Poets have been a part of for the past three seasons will take place on October 31st and November 3rd
