Men Tennis Loses Three Straight to Out-of-State Foes

The Whittier College men's tennis team dropped three consecutive matches in as many days at home on March 17-19. They fell to Division II, Western New Mexico State Unversity 8-1 on March 17. The lone point came at #3 doubles where Danny Benesch '10 and Trey Astbury '08 were able to pull off an 8-6 victory.

Things did not get easier on march 18 and 19, as the Poets lost to #25 ranked University of the South from Tennessee and DII University of Wisconsin Oshkosh 8-0, and 8-1 respectively. Sean Robertson '10 pulled of an incredible super-tiebreaker in the third set, 11-9, to save the Poets from their 4th shutout this year.

The Poets' March 23 match vs. La Sierra has been forfeited by the Golden Eagles.  Whittier's next match is March 24 versus Occidental in Eagle Rock at 9:00am.
