Men's Tennis Loses Conference Opener to #17 University of Redlands

Whittier men's tennis got a slap of reality at the hands of the
University of Redlands at home on February 9. The Poets were
clearly outmatched by the more experienced Bulldogs.
"Overall, I am happy with our performance," said third-year coach
David Bojalad. "We definitely played like we belonged our there.
This match was a great measuring stick for us, not only where we
are, but where we want to be in the next couple of years."
Although they went down 9-0, the Poets had strong performances from
number three and four singles Lance Franey ‘09 and Justin
DeLong ‘10, who fought tooth and nail with two DIII forces,
Aron Ouye and Ransom Cook.
Men's tennis takes on the University of La Verne in their next
match. "In many ways, this match is crucial for us. It very
well could set the tone for the rest of our season. I see it as an
early must win," stated Bojalad. The match will take
place at 2pm on the Ettinger Tennis Courts.
