Men's Tennis Shut Out by Division I Portland State

In their third match in as many days on their road trip in Oregon, the Whittier College Men's tennis team could not keep pace with the big hitting lefties from Portland State on April 2. In fact, five of their top six players were southpaws.

"We could hit with them from the back of the court," says coach Bojalad, "the biggest difference was their ability to finish balls off at the net. Also, I think we were maybe a little psyched out that we were playing an NCAA DI team from the Big Sky Conference. The fact of the matter is this is probably only the third best team we have played this year behind Redlands and CMS."

The highlight of the day was at exhibition #7 where Whittier College's Danny Benesch ‘09 put forth a monumental effort rallying from 5-0 then 6-1 down to defeat Tyler Allen 9-8(2).

The Poets are at George Fox tomorrow at 3:00pm then return home to play at Caltech April 5.  The Poets are now 6-8 overall.
