Men's Tennis Loses Nail-Biter to Occidental

Whittier College men's tennis lost 5-4 to SCIAC rivals Occidental College on April 11 falling to 8-9 on the season.

The Poets dropped two out of three doubles matches, but found themselves in good position, quickly winning at number four and five singles and having won the first sets at #1 and #3. Ted Wyatt '11 won his third match in a row at #1 7-6 in the third set. However, despite playing maybe his best match of the season, Sean Robertson ‘10 did not have quite enough in the third set against last years Second Team All-Conference, Vince Karlen.

"This was a good result for us, despite the loss," said Coach Bojalad, "They finished third in the SCIAC last year and are favorites to do so again this year. We are definitely closing the gap on some of the better teams in this conference."

The Poets travel to Cal Lutheran on April 12 for a 9:30am match.
