Men's Tennis Swept by Cal Lu, SCIAC Tourney April 18-19

In their last regular season match of the year, the Poets lost
to California Lutheran 9-0 and finish 8-10 going into the SCIAC
Tournament.
"This match was a little disappointing coming off the near upset
against Oxy, who is ranked higher than Cal Lu," said Coach Bojalad,
"It is just a completely different match-up for us. Cal Lu plays
more of a power game, finishing off points at the net whereas, Oxy
plays more like us. We need some players next year to combat this
by playing aggressive themselves."
Sean Robertson ‘10 again almost pulled off the upset against
an all-conference caliber player Forrest Hunt, winning the first
set 7-6, before dropping the second and a super tie-breaker in the
third.
Mike Gennette, Cal Lutheran's head coach of nearly 16 years and
considered one of the top tennis professional in So Cal., was
quoted as saying, "If Sean plays his cards right, he could be one
of the top players in the conference in the next couple of
years.
Bojalad agrees but believes to do so, it will require extensive
on-court training in the off-season.
The men have the SCIAC Championships in Claremont, Calif., all day
April 18 and 19.
