Poets sweep Franklin 9-0, earn fifth straight win

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Head coach David Bojalad and the Whittier College men's tennis team continued to shake up the lineup on its spring break trip and the results remain the same. The Poets cruised to its fifth win in a row, and third shut out of the year, with a 9-0 win over Franklin (Ind.) College on Monday morning.

The three doubles teams for the Poets all made their season debut. Justin DeLong and Patricio Carregha rolled at No. 1 doubles, 8-1, while Gavin Smith and Taylor Dimler matched their efforts at No. 2 doubles.

Jonathan Pollare and Gabriel Farias cruised to an 8-2 in of their own.

The Poets did not lose one set in singles competition as Frank Sun led the way at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win.

DeLong earned a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles and Carregha eased to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.

The Poets complete their spring break trip tomorrow, March 31, as they face No. 11 Francis Marion (DII).
