Poets roll to second straight 9-0 win
WHITTIER, Calif. - The Whittier College men's tennis team picked up its second straight sweep of a Pacific Northwest Conference foe as the Poets rolled to a 9-0 win over the University of Puget Sound on Thursday afternoon at the Ettinger Tennis Courts.
The purple and gold (9-3) dropped only two combined games in its three doubles matches and breezed through the singles portion of the day without dropping a set.
Patricio Carregha led the Poets as he won at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0, and teamed with Lance Franey to win at No. 2 singles 8-1.
Frank Sun remained undefeated in singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 5 spot. Ryan Johnson made his debut on the season with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles.
The Poets return to action on Saturday, March 28, as they travel to Hilton Head, S.C., to play four matches in four days.
