David Bojalad has nearly a decade worth of coaching experience and the 2009 season marked the fourth year as the front man of the Whittier College men's tennis program. In four seasons he has amassed a record of 29-47.

The 2009 season was highlighted by a No. 12 ranking in the West Region, an all-conference honoree and the program's first win over rival Occidental. Bojalad landed junior Sean Robertson on the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference second-team (the first of his tenure) and recorded more wins (15) than in his previous three seasons combined (14).

Whittier had a season-high five match win streak from March 23 to March 30 where it defeated Pacific (Ore.), Puget Sound, Erskine, Lakeland and Franklin. Whittier also had a win streak of three matches to open the season and a four-match win streak which featured two wins, in two locations, on the same day.

On February 28 the Poets earned the program's first ever win over Occidental and later that same day beat St. John's (Minn.), 6-3.

The Poets finished the year ranked fifth in the conference after they outlasted Occidental in the fifth place game in the SCIAC Championships.

Bojalad graduated from Occidental in 1994 with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. While at Occidental he was a four-year member of the tennis team and was the team captain and Most Valuable Player his senior year.

Bojalad began his college coaching in 2000 as an assistant at Claremont-M-S. He was with the Stags for two seasons before he returned to his alma mater to head the tennis program for the 2002 and 2003 season.

He is a United State Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Professional and integrates a mental conditioning approach into his coaching philosophy along with a firm feel for the biomechanics and strategy for high level performances.

Bojalad resides in Pasadena, Calif., and is the father of identical twin boys, Hunter and Harrison.
