WHITTIER, Calif. – It has been three years since an individual from Whittier College has received SCIAC Athlete of the Week recognition for Men's Track & Field.  This past Saturday, senior Miguel Redmond (San Jose, Calif.) became one of a number of Poets to earn this recognition.

The most recent winners all came in 2013, and included Alex Jungsten, Kevin Curbelo, and the 4 x 100 Relay Team of Kimble Tillman, German Fabela, Curbelo, and Andres Vega.

At the conclusion of SCIAC No. 3, Redmond currently ranks as the top ranked Pole Vaulter in SCIAC as he cleared 4.51 Meters. He placed No. 1 at the meet beating out Pomona-Pitzer, La Verne, Chapman, and Caltech. With this mark he now moves into the No. 1 Spot in the Whittier College Track & Field record books breaking a 55-Year Old school Record, which was 14-Feet, 7.75 Inches set by Billy Colbert back in 1962.
