Two Poets Earn All-American Honors

2M player Jake Zerbe '07 and goalie Matt Brammer '09 were named to All-American teams this past month.  Zerbe was a first team selection for the second straight year and Brammer earned his first selection to the second team.

It is the third year Zerbe has been named to an All-American team; he was placed on the second team in 2004.  He led the Poets with 45 goals, 38 steals and a Whittier College single season record 90 drawn penalties.  He leaves Whittier as the career leader in drawn penalties (248) and is third on the all-time steals list (163) and fourth on the all-time scoring list (191).

2006 was a break-out year for Brammer.  After solidifying his role as the starting goalie, he made 169 blocks, blocking 50% of the shots he faced and held opponents to a 36% shooting percentage.  He finished the season second on the team in steals with 37 and earned All-SCIAC honors in the process.

The Poets finished their season 10-19 overall and finished fifth in the SCIAC with a 4-3 record.
