Water Polo Loses Two at Cal Lu Mini Tournament


 

Whittier College men's water polo went 0-2 at the California Lutheran University Mini Tournament on September 14.  The Poets lost 11-5 to Cerritos Community College in the first game of the day and then 11-9 to Fresno Pacific University in game two. 

All-American goalie, Matt Brammer '09 made 13 saves for the Poets in the loss to Cerritos.  Chris Villanueva '09 scored three goals and Matt Rogers '08 provided Whittier's other two goals.  Manny Sanchez '08 was credited with two assists.

In game two, Villanueva led the Poets offense with a pair of goals and three assists.  Rogers and Dante Morley-Montes '10 had two goals and an assist apiece.  Tim Beck '10 pitched in with a goal and an assist.  Brammer had another solid outing in goal with five saves and three steals.  He also helped out the Poet attack with two assists.

The Poets continue their non-conference schedule on September 16, when they travel to Cal St. Fullerton for two games.  They play the hosts at 1pm, followed by a rematch with Chapman University, who beat the Poets 11-9 at the Inland Empire Classic, at 3pm.
