Water Polo Splits a Pair of Non-Conference Home Games


Whittier College men's water polo hosted a pair of non-conference games against Connecticut College and Concordia University on October 12 and 13, respectively.  The Poets cruised to a 19-6 win over Connecticut, but couldn't get past Division I Concordia, losing 20-14.

Chris Villanueva '09 led the Poets offense with six goals and two assists against Connecticut.  Griffin Dolman '11 scored four times and pitched in two assists.  Matt Rogers '08 had a hat trick and Manny Sanchez '08 scored twice and added an assist.  Will Jackson '11 and Sean Larsen '10 each finished with a goal and two assists.  Matt Brammer '09 made a season-high 22 saves and allowed just one second half goal.

Against Concordia, Villanueva scored six more goals on eleven attempts and added a pair of assists.  Rogers added three goals and an assist and Jackson tallied two goals and two assists.  Sanchez scored twice and Dant Morely-Montes '10 scored one goal.  Brammer made seven saves in goal, and helped out the offense with an assist.

The Poets are in action again on October 17, when the travel to Pomona-Pitzer.  The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game is scheduled to begin at 4pm.
