Two Poets Honored by Western Water Polo Association
Whittier College Men's Water Polo had two players honored by the
Western Water Polo Association for their accomplishments during the
2008 season. Goalkeeper Casey Regehr '10 earned All-WWPA
second team honors while Alex Hernandez '12 was named to the
All-Freshman team.
Regehr turned in a fantastic freshman campaign, taking over the
Poets' goalkeeping duties after two seasons with All-American Matt
Brammer in the cage. Regehr made 266 saves on the season and
led the team with 38 steals. He was also an asset on the
offensive end, finishing fourth on the team in assists.
Hernandez earned a spot on the All-Freshman team after finishing
third on the Poets with 26 goals. He also pitched in with 13
assists, 26 steals and 18 drawn ejections. He led a 15-man
freshmen class that has Head Coach Justin Pudwill excited for the
future of Poets Men's Water Polo. They ended the season
ranked eighth in Division III and finished fifth in the
SCIAC. Their record of 12-16 overall was a three-game
improvement on 2007.
