Regehr, Villanueva named ACWPC All-Americans

INDIANAPOLIS - The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches announced its 2008 Men's All-American Team this past weekend and two Poets were honored. Junior goalie Casey Regehr was named to the second-team while senior Chris Villanueva was named honorable mention at attack.
The two Poets become the first Whittier All-Americans since Matt Brammer was honored in 2007 as an All-American.
Regehr finished the season with 265 total saves and a team-high 38 steals. In addition to his duties in goal he also managed to finish ranked fourth on the team in assists with 21. The Visalia, Calif., native also had 52 man-down saves.
Johns Hopkins senior Chris Hutchens was named the first-team All-American goalie.
Villanueva finished the season with team-highs in shots, goals and drawn ejections. He had 53 goals on 156 shots and also added 35 assists to rank second on the team. The Whittier, Calif., native finished the season with 11 steals and 30 drawn ejections.
