The 2009 season will mark the third year for Justin Pudwill as the head coach of the Whittier College men's water polo program. In just two seasons he has a career record of 21-37 and a sixth and fifth place finish in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The 2008 season was highlighted by the Poets' first round upset of SCIAC rival Occidental College in the conference tournament. At the end of the season Casey Regehr and Chris Villanueva were each named to the SCIAC second-team. In addition to their conference recognition Regehr and Villanueva were named ACWPC Second-Team and Honorable Mention All-Americans, respectively, and also earned a spot on the ACWPC All-Academic Team.

Pudwill has been a water polo and swimming coach since 2000 in Texas and California. He began coaching at Ross S. Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas, where we was the assistant for the State Champion boys and girls water polo teams. In 2001 he co-founded the Dirty Bay Water Polo Club, the first year-round age group water polo program in Texas. From 2001 to 2003 he was selected to coach at the National Zone Championships for Zone 4 (Texas) where he ran both the Youth and Cadet Programs. He has also helped over 50 student-athletes develop the skills necessary to compete in NCAA programs such as the University of California Los Angeles, the University of Southern California and the United States Naval Academy, among other places.

Pudwill studied Sports Management at Salem International University in Salem, W.V., and competed at the Division II level in baseball, swimming and water polo. He also played internationally for the Ontario Water Polo Club in Ontario, Canada.
