Justin Pudwill is entering his first season as the head coach of the Whittier College men's water polo program. He is no stranger to the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, having been the assistant men's and women's water polo coach at Occidental College since 2004.
Coach Pudwill started playing water polo at Ocean View High
School in Huntington Beach Calif. He was a three year varsity
starter for the boy's water polo team. In 1997, Coach Pudwill
and his family relocated to Baytown, Texas, where he attended Ross
S. Sterling High School. At Sterling, Coach Pudwill enjoyed
great sucsess scoring over 95 goals his senior year as the Team
Captain. Also Coach Pudwill attended the National Zone
Championships for Zone 4 held at the United States Training Center
in Colorado Springs, CO.
Coach Pudwill majored in Sports Management at Salem International
University in Salem, West Virginia. While there he was a
member of the baseball, swimming and water polo teams, earning
Academic All-American honors in all three sports .
Salem International is a NCAA Division II school, and participated
in the CWPA. Coach Pudwill also played semi-professional
water polo for the Ontario Water Polo Club in Ontario, Canada.
Pudwill has been both a water polo and swimming coach since 2000 in Texas and California. He began his coaching career at Ross S. Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas where he was the assistant for the swimming and water polo programs. In his first year at Ross S. Sterling the boys and girls teams won the state championships. In 2001, Pudwill co-founded the first year-round age group water polo program in the state of Texas, the Dirty Bay Water Polo Club in Baytown. Within two years the program grew from 20 members to over 100. Coach Pudwill was also selected to coach at the National Zone Championships for Zone 4 (Texas), for two years helping run both the Youth, and Cadet Programs. Coach Pudwill has also helped over 50 athletes develop the skills necessary to compete in NCAA programs all over the country.
In 2004, he moved back to California to become the assistant water polo coach at Occidental for the Men's and Women's programs. While at Occidental the men's team reached some of its highest rankings in the Division 3 polls. The women's team reached as high as number 2 in 2005 polls, while getting to the championship game at the Division 3 national tournament in 2005. Before coming to Whittier College, Coach Pudwill enjoyed a head coaching position at Fountain Valley High School in Fountain Valley California. Fountain Valley competed in one of the best leagues in California, the Sunset League. He also was an assistant Head Coach at Huntington Beach High School.

Assistant Coach
Brian is entering his first season as a member of the Poets water
polo coaching staff. He attended California State University
of Long Beach, where he earned a degree in History. Before
attending Long Beach State he was a four year Varsity Letterman in
Water Polo and Swimming at Huntington Beach High School.
There he received the 2001 coaches' award, 2002 team captain award,
and 2001 and 2002 All-Sunset League team honors.
Brian started coaching in 2002 at his alma mater high school. There he was the frosh soph coach in 2002, and then in 2003 he became the varsity assistant coach. After a short stint off to concentrate on academics he returned to Huntington Beach High School in 2006 to become an assistant Varsity Boys and Girls water polo and swim coach. While at Huntington Brain has coached some of the finest swimmers and water polo players ever to come out of that high school.
