A Whittier team that is hitting .352 as a team on the season could only muster five hits in the game one shut out loss.  Deena Arenas '08 (7-7) pitched six innings and allowed three runs on five hits and four walks.  she also struck out seven batters.

In the game two win, Ovieda (11-4) allowed just three base runners and struck out five.  She leads the Poets with 47 strikeouts this season.  At the plate, Ovieda was the only Poet with multiple hits.  She went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.  Laura Duarte '10 and Beth Walczak '10 each hit two-run doubles.  Walczak also walked twice and scored a run.  Brenna Winslow '07 finished with an RBI and two runs scored.  Sheryl Fukuda '08 went 1-for-2 with an RBI, a walk and two runs scored.  Mary Pacheco '10 and Amanda Brown '09 each singled, walked and scored two runs.  Erica Ureno '08 and Amanda Carrasco '10 drove in one run apiece.

The Poets scored eight runs in the third inning, none of which were earned.  It was all the scoring they would need, but they tacked on four more in the fifth and ended the game 12-0 in five innings due to the eight-run mercy rule.
