Pacheco named second-team All-Region by NFCA

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its 2009 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-Region teams on Monday, May 4, and junior Mary Pacheco was among six Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes to be selected to the second-team.

Pacheco led the Poets in virtually every offensive category. She batted .433 with a slugging percentage of .683 and an on base percentage of .521. She totaled 52 hits, 12 of which were doubles, with six homeruns and 32 runs batted in.

She collected 82 total bases, drew 21 walks and was a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen bases.

The West Covina, Calif., native was named to the all-conference first-team earlier this week.

The University of Redlands led the SCIAC with a total of six All-Region selections. The Bulldogs placed two on the first-team and four on the second-team.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps had one second-team and one third-team selection, the University of La Verne had a first-team and third-team honoree and California Lutheran had one third-team member to bring the total for the SCIAC to 12 All-Region members.
