Men's and Women's Swimming Lose to Occidental, Sanchez '08 Posts NCAA "B" Cut Time in 100 Breast

Manny Sanchez '08 won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke, but the Whittier College men lost 148-75 to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on January 27.  The Whittier women also lost to Pomona by a score of 146-50.

Sanchez won the 200-yd IM with a time of 2:02.17 and the 100-yd breaststroke in 1:00.46.  Sam Benedum '09 won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.82 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in 50.77 seconds.

On the women's side, the 400-yard medley relay team of Indre Lauraitis '10, Kera Kimura '10, Catherine Gouge '08 and Nicole Sandoval '08 finished second with a time of 4:27.23.  Kimura also finished second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:23.93 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:14.64.
