Sanchez Named SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week

Manny Sanchez '08 continues to add to an already sterling resume; he was named the SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week after his performance at the SCIAC Swimming and Diving Championships.

Sanchez won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke on his way to SCIAC Male Swimmer of the Year honors at the 2007-08 SCIAC Swimming Championships on February 21-23.  He now has won eight SCIAC Championships in his career.  His time of 1:54.13 in the 200 IM broke his own Whittier College record and was an NCAA "B" cut qualifier.  He won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.45 seconds and the 200 breaststroke in 2:05.07, both NCAA "B" cut times.  His 200 breaststroke time is currently tenth-best in Division III.
